A few weeks ago I wrote my first part of this blog series post, and introduced you to Hill’s Science Diet’s Perfect Weight 10-week turnaround! It’s a diet for your pet, to help him get back into shape! Did you know that more than 50% of pets are overweight? And 70% of cats and dogs who used Science Diet Perfect Weight, lost weight within 10 weeks!
I also mentioned in my last post, that my Min-Pin, Alexis, was overweight most of her life. At one point she weighed a whopping 14 lbs. That is a lot of weight to carry around for a tiny little dog. I fed her anything she wanted. I thought I was just spoiling her. I didn’t realize I was cutting her life so short. If I had known, I definitely would have done things a lot differently. She had gotten diabetes and I had to give her 3 insulin shots a day. She was on a very strict diet of boiled rice, boiled chicken and boiled ground beef. Which, she seemed to love. For a while. Then she got tired of it and it was very difficult to get her to eat what she was supposed to.
How I wish Hill’s Science Diet Perfect Weight for Small & Toy breed dogs was available then! I feel that if it was, I could have been feeding her this healthy food instead of the food that was quietly killing her.
Well now that you know about Science Diet’s Perfect Weight and their 10-week turnaround, now is the time to create a routine for health.
Here’s a calendar to help you create that routine. It’s actually quite easy!

We have a fully fenced in back yard, and not only do we walk our dogs but we also play with them a lot in the back yard. They love to play fetch, and sometimes we just run around the yard and let them try to catch us! It’s fun for all of us. This is our Noah, a Chihuahua, who is one very happy, healthy, and very fit little guy!
Not sure if your dog is overweight, or wondering how much? Check out the PetMD Healthy Weight Tool. I just entered Alexis’s info when she was at her heaviest and this is the result it gave me:
Boy, they were spot on with that one. How I wish all this information was available to me when she was still alive! But it’s available now – and you should definitely take advantage of this, and keep your dog on a healthy path so they can live a long, healthy and happy life!
Did you know that giving your dog just ONE little cookie is the same as giving them a whole burger? I didn’t know that either. Check out this treat translator!
