Chris had a Dr’s appoinment after work today, so yay me, I didn’t have to cook dinner! I went to his appointment with him, and then we had a quick dinner afterwords. By that time it was 6pm. We decided to try the Magee Diner. We have only had breakfast there before, so we were looking forward to trying their dinners. This is in Waterloo and there’s not much to choose from other than fast food restaurants. What Chris didn’t know is that I had this planned all day 🙂 I printed out a certificate from Restaurant.com for $15 off a $30 meal at Magee Diner! We are LOVING the Restaurant.com deals. No matter where we go, there seems to be somewhere that we can use a certificate for! Even in little ol’, Waterloo!
The last time we ate here, the hostess was quite rude to us, and our food was cold. Thank goodness that was not the case tonight! Everyone was very nice and our food came out nice and hot. Our waitress’s name was Rose and she was excellent!
For starters our meals came with a salad. I got mine with no crutons or tomatoes, and Italian dressing. Chris got his with their house made blue cheese dressing. He said his salad was really good, but mine was just ok. It tasted like the bagged salads you get at the grocery store when they are about to expire and the lettuce is all limp and pale in color. Eh. It was edible. Definitely not a Prosecco’s salad!
For my entree, I was torn. The waitress said they had all you can eat shrimp for $17.99! I could have gotten it 3 different ways – fried, scampi or alfredo. But I was kinda craving steak too. Oh what to do?
So I ordered the steak. With sweet potato fries! I’m a sucker for sweet potato fries.
I didn’t know the onion rings came with the meal, that was a surprise! Want to see what’s under them?
And it was cooked perfectly, too. I was a little hesitant to order steak from a diner, because Chris has got me believing that you can’t (or shouldn’t) order steak from anything other than a true steakhouse. But this girl was craving steak. So I got my steak.
And it was delicious!
Chris ordered the chicken fried steak (Mr. I thought you don’t order steak from a diner….) and his came with a roll (which he did say was dry), a side of veggies and a side of mac & cheese.
He said it was all pretty good. Everything came out hot except his mac & cheese, but he still said it was good.
And thanks to Restaurant.com, we saved $15 off our meal!
