Have I mentioned how much I love being on Restaurant.com‘s Review Crew?! Yes, I absolutely love it. We get to try so many restaurants we never would have known about otherwise!
This time we decided to try the Finger Lakes Pretzel Factory and Bakery located in Seneca Falls. We live about half an hour from here, and we go through Seneca Falls every now and then.
It’s located on State Street in Seneca Falls, and it’s a very cute little place. It’s very nicely decorated inside, and there are several small tables so you can eat there and enjoy your food.
When we went there, I really just wanted a pretzel, but Chris wanted something a little more savory. After looking at their menu and through their bakery case, he decided on the spinach and feta pretzel wrap. I just got a soft pretzel with salt, and Chris also got one.
They had a nice assortment of baked goods, and one particularly caught my eye. I asked if it was a brownie, and the kid said yes, it was, and it had a peppermint frosting on top. I asked if it had cream cheese in it, and he went out back to ask and said it did, so unfortunately I couldn’t have that. I then saw a piece of cake, but it was $4.99 for a small slice (which I thought was a little high), so I decided on a piece of flourless chocolate cake.
They also have a huge assortment of sodas. I asked if they were made there, and he said yes, they have a local bottler who bottles their sodas. We each grabbed one of their sodas. I grabbed orange cream, and Chris got their Root Beer.
We paid for our food, and grabbed our sodas, and our food was brought out momentarily.
I love soft pretzels, but I’m very particular. There’s one chain who makes them (Auntie Anne’s) and I do not like them at all. Finger Lakes Pretzel Factory pretzels look similar, but it was the taste that matters!
When our food was brought out, I took a quick bite of my pretzel and yes, it was delicious! It could have been a little warmer, but it was very good. And, it was huge!
Chris’s spinach and feta wrap came out very cold, and so was his pretzel. He didn’t care much for the wrap but he liked the pretzel. I think if it was warmer, he would have liked it a little more.
I saved the best for last, or so I thought. I was craving chocolate, and took a bite of my flourless chocolate cake, and I hate to say this, but it was not good. And that’s being really polite. It was pretty bad. It was just goo, and it was hard to swallow. It’s hard to explain, but it was not edible. Chris took a bite and said it was awful. We threw out the rest of it.
On the bright side, we had a certificate from Restaurant.com and we saved $10 off our bill! I would definitely recommend the soft pretzels and will be back for more of them. I would also try something else in their bakery, and try a new flavor of their soda, but I will be steering clear of the flourless cake.
