I was a vendor at a show today, and after the show we were not only tired, but hungry! So I opened one of my favorite Smartphone apps – for Restaurant.com! I absolutely love this app. I am a member of Restaurant.com‘s Review Crew, but even if I wasn’t, I’d still use this app as much as possible, because who doesn’t like saving money? We love dining out on the weekends, and we love it even more when we can get a great deal!
So my app showed a Mexican restaurant called Agave Express. We knew right where it was, and it was on our way home. I purchased the certificate for $10 off a $20 meal. That’s a 50% savings!
When we got there, there was only one other party in there, so it was nice and quiet. The decor was very colorful, as most Mexican restaurants are, and it was very clean. We were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted.
As soon as we sat at a table, the server brought us out some home made chips & salsa. I love chips & salsa! And these were delicious.
It wasn’t long before our food came out. Chris ordered the Burrito California. It had shredded beef inside, and he said it was delicious. A lot of the “Mexican” restaurants around here just use ground beef, but they actually shredded their beef, an indication that this was an authentic Mexican restaurant.
I ordered steak & mushroom fajitas. They came out sizzling, and they gave me so much I couldn’t even eat it all! I couldn’t believe all the food. It was a huge mound of steak and mushrooms, and it was delicious. Just the perfect amount of seasoning, and cooked perfectly.
So after we ate, Chris noticed the dessert menu on the table. We almost never order dessert, and we’ve actually never ordered dessert from a Mexican restaurant before. Chris saw that they had churros. He asked me if I wanted to try them, and I said no, because I didn’t even know what they were. He’s from California and he grew up eating them. Here in upstate NY, you never see them at a restaurant. I didn’t know what they were, and he explained to me they were fried dough with sugar & cinnamon. I could tell he really wanted them, so I told him to get some for dessert. He said only if I would try them, so I agreed. And in the back of my mind, I was thinking “I’m not going to like them..“.
He ordered them, and a few minutes later, this came out.
My jaw dropped. Not only was it the most beautifully presented dessert, I could smell the cinnamon and they actually really did smell really good. I quickly tried one, and my eyes rolled back in my head. These were incredible! I thought I had died and gone to dessert heaven. There was chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and caramel on the plate to dip your churrros in. The strawberry was my favorite! The chef came out to our table and asked how we liked everything, and we told him what an incredible meal it was, and this was the most incredible dessert ever! He said this was his creation and he makes all the sauces himself. I told him they were so good, that the next time we come here (and it won’t be long before we do!) that Chris is going to get his own serving of Churros and I’m getting one that’s all mine, and I’m not sharing!
Our entire meal was incredible, and all of the service was top notch. Our server was so polite and attentive, and the chef even came out to see how everything was. They excelled in every aspect of our dining experience.
We absolutely cannot wait to go back again! And if it wasn’t for Restaurant.com, we probably wouldn’t have even known about this new restaurant!
