I have had the opportunity to review a bowl called the Obol. And if you think this is just your ordinary bowl, you are wrong.
As soon as I heard about this bowl, I knew I had to try it. It was designed to keep your cereal from getting mushy, but it has lots of other uses too. But first and foremost, I was really excited to try it with my cereal.
I love cereal, but I HATE mushy cereal. And I’m a slow eater, so I have to eat it really quick before it gets mushy. And since I’m a slow eater even when I think I’m eating quickly, it gets mushy anyways. My Lucky Charms quickly become NOT magically delicious. My snap, crackle and pop turns to swish, slug, glug.  My Fruit Loops become squish loops.  You get the picture.
Obol to the rescue. They sent me a red bowl, and a larger white bowl. These bowls have a separator in the middle, and the bottom part of the bowl is deeper than the top part of the bowl.
So you pour your milk in the bottom part of the bowl, like this:
And you pour your cereal in the top part of the bowl like this:
And yes, I’m eating Lucky Charms. One of my all time favorite cereals.  When you are ready for a bite of your cereal, you just swoop your spoon of cereal into the milk, and scoop it up.
This bowl has completely changed the way I eat cereal now. There is no other cereal bowl. This is, in my opinion, one of the best things invented since sliced bread. This is also a very heavy duty bowl, and it is dishwasher and microwave safe.
If even has a really unique bottom, with a built-in handle so you can easily carry it around with one hand. It looks narrow from the picture, but it’s very sturdy. It is designed to not fall over.
I’m one of those people who have really weird food quirks. If you’ve been following my blog for any period of time, I’m sure you’ve read about some of them.  For example, I don’t like my foods touching on my plate. If my steak touches my mashed potatoes, I won’t eat the parts that touched. (Yes I ALREADY know how weird that is!) This bowl lets me keep certain foods separate. Maybe not steak and mashed potatoes (it would be difficult to cut steak in a bowl), but here’s some other ideas I thought will be great to eat with this bowl:
Chips and Salsa
Mashed potatoes with gravy
Cookies & Milk
Chicken Tenders W/sauce
Chips & Dip
Nachos & Cheese
Veggies & Dip
I even used it for my chili & crackers, and I can’t imagine eating chili any other way now!!
The list is pretty much endless. Any foods that you dip, or foods that you like to control how much sauce or condiments they get, this is THE bowl. I plan to use this bowl for lots of other things, but this will forever by my “cereal bowl”.  I will never eat cereal out of any other bowl again. I am IN LOVE with the Obol.  If I had heard about this bowl and didn’t receive one to review, this totally would have gone on my Christmas list. If you know someone who would like this bowl, this would make an AWESOME Christmas gift. It’s such a unique bowl that serves so many purposes. They come in several really nice colors, too! You can buy them from Brookstone or Bed Bath & Beyond, or on their Obol.co website (not .com).
And don’t forget, they are made right here in the U.S.A.! No “Made in China” here. I’m very happy to support this USA made product!
Finally. My Lucky Charms are once again magically delicious!
