It’s been a while since I did a DIY post & video, so here’s a new one! This one is a tutorial on how to make your own lip balms with just 4 ingredients. And it’s SO easy! With the holidays coming up, these make great gifts & stocking stuffers!
Ingredients you will need:
- 2 oz Beeswax
- 2 oz. Shea Butter
- 2 oz. Coconut Oil
- 16 drops of your choice of essential oil (I prefer orange, vanilla or peppermint)
Other supplies you will need:
- Container to melt your ingredients in
- A few spoons
- Pipettes (optional, but they make it easier for me)
- Digital scale, preferably with a “tare” function
- Lip Balm Tubes and/or screw cap containers
- Labels, optional
Just add all your ingredients and melt them down. A double boiler is preferred (safest method) but I use my electric burner. You just need to melt them down, you do not need to get them to a high temperature. You may also want to try melting them in the microwave in a microwave-safe container, but I have never tried that method.
Once your ingredients are melted, remove from heat, and add 16 drops of your favorite essential oil. I prefer orange, peppermint or vanilla. Then stir again.
Now just transfer them into your tubes & containers. (If you have pipettes, this job is super easy and no mess!) I also like to place my tubes banned together with a rubberband, in bunches of 10 – this keeps them from falling over and spilling.
Then just let them cool, which typically only takes 15-30 minutes. Place the caps on them, label them if you want, and you are all set. You can give them away as gifts, keep the for yourself, or do whatever you want to do with them! Enjoy!
