We have some very lucky dogs! They get more deliveries than we do!
This time they received an awesome box of goodies, compliments of Smiley360 and Hartz!
The item that I personally was most excited about trying, was the pads. In case you don’t know, we have six dogs. Yes, 6! That’s not a typo. Five Chihuahuas and one senior dog who is a Shih-tzu/Pomeranian mix with health issues. Potty pads are a necessity in our home. We live in Upstate NY, where it can be brutally hot in the summer and sub-zero temps in the winter. Have you ever tried making a Chihuahua go outside to potty in a freezing snow storm? Ha! I still attempt to make them go outside every morning, but the ones that do make it past the threshold to the back yard, turn right back around and come flying back inside. And then there are a couple who won’t even attempt to humor me and at least pretend to try to go outside. They are just not having any of it. So, this is why potty pads are a necessity in our home. If they don’t potty outside, they will potty inside.
Thankfully, we’ve paper trained all of our dogs since they were puppies. They are trained to potty on the pads for instances such as we’re not home, or when they refuse to go outside, like today.
There are a couple of exceptions though. Our maniac Chihuahua, Molly, will run outside to potty and if it’s not too cold she will run around in the snow a bit before coming in.
Sammy is our senior dog, and he used to love the winters when he was a furball. He’s now shaved down (for medical reasons) and while he’s still good at pottying outside, he is very anxious to come right back in. Back when he was a furball, he’d hang out and run in the snow a while. But not anymore.
So needless to say, we are never without potty pads in our home. This is the first time we’ve tried Hartz brand pads, and we’ve been very impressed! First of all, they are nice sized. For obvious reasons (6 dogs!) we prefer the largest pads available. And, they are leak proof. We’ve never had any of these pads leak yet! One way they have the upper hand on the other pads we’ve used, is they are scented!! That is so awesome. Until you have 6 dogs who pee on pads indoors, you can’t truly understand the importance of scented pads. We’ve tried these Hartz pads in Lavender Scent and Spring Meadow Fresh Scent. While they both do a great job at masking odors, I do prefer the Spring Meadow scent. I just love that fresh scent. And, it seems stronger than the Lavender. But either way, we’re very impressed with the pads themselves, even if they weren’t scented.
These pads aren’t just for puppies, either. We have raised Chihuahuas, and while raising puppies these are absolutely necessary, as puppies are not born being potty trained. But they are not just for puppy-hood. They work great for us for all stages of their lives – adult-hood and especially senior dogs. We had a min-pin who we had to put down a few years ago. She was 13 years old, had diabetes for the last few years of her life, and she eventually went blind. She eventually also became incontinent. Anyone who has a dog that is incontinent knows the importance of potty pads. They are invaluable. We couldn’t be without them, for all stages of our dog’s lives.
These Hartz pads are available nation-wide. We purchased this pack of 50 Lavender scented pads at our local Walmart. We received this awesome coupon for up to $15 off any pack, and the pack of 50 was only $12.72 at Walmart, which wasn’t a bad deal even without the coupon! And speaking of coupons, here’s one for $2.00 off any pack! Score!

So back to the other things in the box! When I showed the dogs their pads, they looked at me like I had 4 heads. Clearly, potty pads did not impress them. But when they saw all the other things I was taking out of the box, they were definitely excited!
In fact, Miss Molly jumped up on the bench while I was taking pictures, and she’s not even allowed on the bench. She’s so naughty.
I told her to get down! And she just sat down. Sigh. Chihuahuas.
One of their favorite things was this Hartz Squeaky duraPlay toy. It was BACON scented!! You should have seen them all trying to get this one from me. This toy was very popular!
Sammy was first to play with it. And yes, this is him shaved – and 11 lbs lighter than in the furball picture above!
Molly was all about the treats. She helped herself to the Oinkies smoked bones. She didn’t want to share, but I made her. There were 50 in a pack, which according to Molly’s calculations means the other dogs get 1 each, and she gets the remaining 45 bones.
And then there was this little bone that had a bacon flavored treat inside of it.
They loved it, but I had to stop them from eating the entire thing – plastic and all.
We also received a bottle of puppy shampoo, and a hair brush. Both which I used on Sammy. Like I said, he’s a senior dog and definitely not a puppy anymore, but he has very sensitive skin, so puppy shampoo is best for him. And this shampoo left him smelling amazingly good! (I couldn’t stop smelling him, lol)
Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with everything in our Smiley360 / Hartz box! Hartz is a very well known name brand, and still I had no idea they carried some of these products. So hopefully you learned about some of their new products for your dogs, too!
