Did you know that July is Pet Hydration Awareness month?
Did you know that your pet needs one ounce of water per pound of body weight each day?
Or that many pets instinctively prefer to drink moving water?
To help educate pet parents about the importance of proper pet hydration, PetSafe® brand is sponsoring Pet Hydration Awareness Month in July!
Oh my DOG! I have been very excited about getting to review this drinking fountain for our dogs! This fountain is by Drinkwell, and it’s a Multi-Pet fountain, which is exactly what we need. We have 6 dogs, and since they don’t have one for “too many pets” we opted for the one for multi-pets, lol! We received this from PetSafe!
When I first opened the box, I was a little overwhelmed by all the pieces in it. You mean I have to put this thing together? Do I look like Tim the Tool Man? No worries though, as thankfully, it looked a lot worse than it was (otherwise, I’d be saving this job for the boyfriend). I had it together in no time.
I was more than happy to replace our dog’s old stainless water bowl with this. Five of our dogs are Chihuahuas, and while they will bark, howl, growl, and attempt to kill anyone 50 times their size, put a little thing like this on the floor and they scatter like cockroaches.
Except for Molly. Molly is the exception to EVERY Chihuahua rule. This one-year old purebred 19 lb and still not overweight Chihuahua is not afraid of anything. As soon as I turned this fountain on, she was all over it like a monkey on a cupcake. First going right up to it, staring it down, letting the fountain know she’s not afraid of it.
She walked around it, stalked it a little bit without taking her eyes off of it, and then she finally went in for the kill…
(notice Cody in the background)
The next thing I see, is Cody going over to it and drinking out of it. Honestly, I thought he would have taken days to use it. He’s a little 3 year old, 5-lb Chihuahua who is afraid of his own shadow. The little guy really impressed me!
And then Sammy followed suit. I figured he’d try it right away, he’s not usually afraid of much. And he’s also not a Chihuahua, so go figure…
Noah and Annabelle started drinking out of it shortly after. The one that took the longest was Maxi. He took a couple days to build up the courage to approach it. I mean, come on, it IS a big scary bowl of running water, after all.
So they have been using it for a few days now, and so far so good! I love that it comes with 5 different spout rings, so you can decide how much water you want to come out at once. And if you turn the knob on top to the left, it decreases the amount of water comes out, and if you turn it to the right, it increases the amount of water. There is max / min water lines in the front, letting you know how much water to put in. Just keep the water level above minimum and below maximum and that’s all there is to it. You can purchase this fountain and lots of other fountains and products on their website here!

So do you love it? Would your pet love one of these (after the initial shock and horror of a bowl that has running water, of course)?
