My boyfriend is a heavy coffee drinker, and he brings his thermos of coffee to work with him every day. Â It gets cleaned daily, usually in the dishwasher. But we’ve been noticing that the coffee has been staining his thermos. Â No matter how much I clean it, scrub it, put it in the dishwasher, the stains will not go away. Â Since vinegar is known to pretty much clean anything known to man, I filled it with white distilled vinegar and let it sit for a whole weekend. Â To my surprise, it was STILL completely stained. Â The vinegar did not even phase it. Â I had no idea how to get this thing clean again!
Chris actually stopped using this thermos, because he said his coffee was not tasting good anymore. When I take it out of the dishwasher, and put my fingers in it, there is a black residue left on my fingers. Â Gross!
I mean, look at this thermos. Â It looks like it was never cleaned! This picture was taken right after I took it out of the dishwasher.
So a couple of weeks ago, we were at my parents’ house, and Chris mentioned to my mom about his thermos that we couldn’t get cleaned.  My mom, who has a cleaning solution for absolutely EVERYTHING, told us to buy dip-it.  We had never heard of this product before, but before I knew it, Chris had already ordered it from his cell phone.  Make sure you order the POWDER that shows a thermos on the box.  You can purchase it from Walmart and Amazon among other places.
It couldn’t have been easier to use. Â I filled the thermos with water, and poured it into a pan and let it come to a boil. Â Once it was boiling, I poured it back into the thermos. Â I poured in 2 Tablespoons of dip-it, and gave it a gentle stir with a spoon.
It IMMEDIATELY started foaming, and within seconds you could see the bits of coffee residue floating to the top.
I let it sit for 20 minutes, as the box instructed. Â When we went back to check on it, there was still a little foam on top. Â I brought it over to the sink and poured it out.
To my SHOCK, the thermos was completely cleaned!! Â There were NO more coffee stains inside. Â All I did was pour water, 2 tablespoons of dip it, stir, and walk away and let it sit for 20 minutes!!
The thermos is now as clean as the day we first bought the thermos! Â Thanks mom, for the tip! Â This thermos was headed for the trash can, and now it’s like brand new again!
