I’m a huge fan of DIY projects. I believe DIY projects are a great way to save money and keep your events much more affordable. Here are few money saving DIY projects to check out!
Special Events DIY
When it comes to those special events like weddings, birthdays and parties, it can be tempting to get everything brand new to make the day feel new and exciting. However this can not only end up quite costly, but can also end up feeling a bit impersonal – like you haven’t put your own stamp on it. Instead why not consider some DIY ideas to incorporate into your special day? Just a little unique touch created yourself could be all you need to make the day truly memorable and treasured by all involved.
Here are a few DIY ideas we’ve come up with that can add some flair to your special event:
DIY Wedding Favours
There are loads of DIY wedding projects you can undertake but perhaps one of the more personable ways you can add that special finishing touch is to create your own wedding favours. If you and your other half hail from different countries you could put a small thing that’s culturally appropriate to each of you as a favour, for instance fortune cookies, Scottish tablet and similar things like that.
Everybody loves Christmas, for the hustle and bustle, good food, family bonding and of course great gifts. One thing you can do to make your Christmas truly special, whether on a budget or not, is to do some things DIY. Instead of buying decorations from the shop, why not make your own? This can be a great activity to do with kids if you have them, making it a more memorable time with everyone.
That’s not the only thing you can go DIY on at Christmas – for something your loved ones can cherish and appreciate for years to come is something you’ve put your own time and effort into. Whether it’s something small but personal like a mix CD or handmade photo frame, to something more adventurous and skilled like handmade jewellery, clothing and more, the effort and thought certainly does go a long way for the recipient.
No matter what the special occasion, whether a wedding, christening, birthday, engagement or even Christmas, there’s usually a special cake to accompany it. Why not make the event more memorable by making your own cake for the occasion? Whether it’s for yourself or a loved one’s celebration, there’s loads of scope to add in unique touches like a favourite flavour, special theme and more to either fit the occasion or the personality of the person receiving the cake.
DIY Party Games
One way to make your child’s birthday, bar mitzvah, communion or similar occasion truly memorable is to host some party games they won’t have played anywhere else before. Forget pass the parcel and musical chairs, why not create a treasure hunt, adventure trail or hold contests like a catwalk contest for girls in order to get the party started. You could create your own DIY board games and theme too so the party has a really unique feel.
Of course there are many more DIY ideas to make your special event truly stand out, but why not try these at your next event to spice things up a bit?
