Last week I was contacted by Bonefish Grill to see if I’d be willing to review their new lunch menu. My response was a very quick “heck yeah!” They promptly sent me a few gift cards – and one of the cards is for one of my readers!
Bonefish Grill is relatively new to our area. When we drove cross country (CA to NY) back in 2010, I remember seeing it in our travels, and wished there was one in our location. Well shortly after, one opened about half an hour from us a couple of years ago. It’s at the Eastview Mall in Victor, NY. We’ve eaten dinner there before, and the food was incredibly delicious.
This time we were having lunch. We were actually going to go yesterday, but we were in a freezing rain advisory and decided to put it off until today.
Did you even know you could grab lunch at Bonefish Grill? If I wasn’t contacted, I wouldn’t have known they were open for lunch. And not all locations are open for lunch, so check your local Bonefish Grill to see if it is, or look it up on their online directory. I don’t go to the mall very often, but if I did, I would have seen this sign before today!
We had reservations made for us, and when we got there at noon, they promptly seated us in the dining room.
I’ve always loved the ambiance in this restaurant. I call it a seafood restaurant with an Asian flare.
They had five “Lunch Specials”, but you could also order from their dinner menu.
Our server was Cassidy, and she was excellent. First we ordered appetizers – I ordered the calamari and Chris ordered the Maryland Crab Cakes.
Our appetizers came out rather quickly, and they were perfect. Chris loves their crab cakes and he says Bonefish Grill makes the best crab cakes ever. Most places use a lot of fillers in their crab cakes, but not Bonefish. Very little fillers and all crab meat.
Calamari is my all-time favorite appetizer, and these are incredible. I love the breading they use, and they are perfectly seasoned. They come with breaded and fried bell peppers, and slices of banana peppers which were an awesome touch. I love those! They give you good sized portions, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat all of these, so I ended up bringing some home. They will be yummy when reheated in the toaster oven tomorrow!
For my entree, I was considering ordering the BFG Fish Sandwich off the lunch menu, if I could get it without the parmesan cheese. When I asked Cassidy if that was an option, she mentioned I could get the fish & chips off the dinner menu. So I just went with the fish & chips.
And they did not disappoint! I was very surprised at the portion size. There were three huge pieces of tempura battered fish, and fries. Their home made tartar sauce was excellent too. I rarely eat my fries at a restaurant – if anything, I might eat one or two and let Chris eat the rest. But these fries were really good! I ate too many. You definitely can’t say you don’t get your money’s worth here. This lunch was so filling, and I even brought some home.
Chris ordered the Kobe beef burger with avocado and bacon, and fries. His burger was HUGE!
He’s a burger fanatic, and he loved this burger. It was made exactly how he wanted it, and he said it was one of the best burgers he’s ever had. He even said the Brioche bun was delicious.
The manager came over to our table a couple of times to make sure everything was ok, and Cassidy was very attentive, making sure we always had everything we needed. Everything from this experience from the moment we walked in to the restaurant, to the moment we left, was absolutely perfect. It was an excellent lunch and we will be back!
