I received this 12-pc mixing bowl set to review, and I was looking forward to it because it was listed as stainless steel, and it came with measuring cups, measuring spoons, 3 bowls and a whisk.
I was planning on using it in my kitchen for cooking purposes, when when I first went to use it, I realized I would be better off keeping this set for my DIY and craft projects.
Yes, it is stainless steel, but the thinnest stainless steel I’ve ever seen. The bowls are good sized with the largest one being a 4.2 quart. I haven’t used the whisk yet, as I have another I use and just haven’t needed to use this one yet.
The measuring spoons were ok, just your average measuring spoons.
The measuring cups on the other hand, are extremely flimsy. When I was using these to make toilet bombs, at one point I actually got cut by one of them. My finger rubbed up against where it is attached to the handle, and there was a sharp piece of metal that cut me.
After a few uses, the handles bent. For things like flour, sugar and things like that, I dip my whole measuring cup into the container to fill it. Well you apparently can’t do this with these, because doing so will cause the handles to bend.
And, eventually break off completely. 🙁
Anyone who cooks regularly would be better off buying a better quality set of bowls and measuring cups. To be honest, you could probably buy better quality set at your local dollar store. I definitely will never use this set in the kitchen, but will use the remaining pieces for my craft projects, for as long as they do hold up.
This set might be suitable for a college student or someone who doesn’t cook or bake very often. You can purchase this 12-pc set on Amazon right now for just $18.99 with free Prime shipping.
